Outdoor Industry Association brought their non-profit initiative Thrive Outside to Catalysis for a brand refresh. In their efforts to create more accessible outdoor experiences for kids across the US, they needed an approachable, fun, and localized way of communicating their services to the communities they partner with.
THE EXECUTION

I began this branding exercise collaborating with my copywriting partner to develop a manifesto for Thrive. Positioning the organization as a friend gently guiding the audience to new outdoor experiences inspired a directional logo, and brand system of regionally-inspired color palettes, nature-inspired patterning, and friendly typography. The brand toolkit focused on event signage and advertising concepts for both national and regional applications. By utilizing the unique color palette and pattern combinations, regional events can create a relevant identity while still connecting to the larger national brand.

The brand toolkit was delivered in 2022 and implementation is still ongoing. According to the Thrive Outside 2023 Annual Report, the number of youth participants in Thrive Outside communities increased to 95,071 in 2023, up 133% from 2022.
