Upleveling estabished brand architecture

ILLUSTRATION AND TYPOGRAPHY FOR A NEW BEER SUB-BRAND

Redhook came to Catalysis with plans to release the next iteration of their Big Ballard Imperial IPA beer. But this wasn’t just any new release, they had plans to make Big Ballard its own sub-brand within the Redhook portfolio. Through exploration and iteration we identified the established elements of the Big Ballard brand architecture that could be altered per release, giving us a framework for future releases, while granting us flexibility to create unique packaging and a strong identity for this sub-brand.



Color palette, “modifier” typography, can illustration, and the Captain’s glasses were all elements chosen to adjust per Big Ballard IPA release. Each release has several SKUs and formats the identity needs to encompass. This packaging won Gold at the Seattle Addys 2022.
